On 2 November, 1944, B-24s of the 489th Bomb Group were sent to destroy the railway marshalling yards at Bielefeld Germany. The bomber formation was surprised to encounter the new German jet fighters, the Me262, in one of the earliest jet attacks against U.S. heavy bombers. The jets were chased off by escorting P-47s, and there were no losses on either side. Signed by the artist.
